Siti Nasil, an 18‑year‑old girl from Kampung Mangkalinau, Sabah, is battling stage 3–4 parotid gland cancer. Her ordeal began in 2024, when a small lump appeared behind her ear.
Over time, the lump grew so large that it stretched her skin and left a painful opening. A biopsy confirmed the severity of her condition, and doctors have advised urgent treatment to save her life.
Unlike most teenagers, Siti has never had the chance to attend college or hold a job. She is stateless — without an identity card, she is barred from working legally in Malaysia and denied access to the medical care she urgently needs. Stateless children often grow up without education, living in fear of being detained by local authorities if they leave home. What should have been years of learning, friendships, and opportunity have instead been years of isolation and hardship. For Siti, the future that a normal 18‑year‑old would dream of is simply not possible.
Her father (38), once supported the family by catching crabs. But in February 2026, strong winds swept away his boat and fishing tools. With his livelihood gone, the family has no source of income as their daughter’s health continues to decline.
After reviewing the family’s case, Tzu Chi Foundation has approved the fundraising appeal for Siti. The estimated medical cost is RM60,000, covering surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, multiple CT scans, nasal examinations (as doctors suspect the tumor may have been caused by nasopharyngeal cancer), as well as transportation to and from the hospital and meal expenses during the recovery period. For a family already struggling to survive, this amount is far beyond reach.
Your generosity can give Siti a fighting chance. Every contribution will go directly toward her medical fees and essential support, helping her continue her journey toward healing. Together, we can ease her suffering and bring hope to her family in this critical time.
